Origins Of Foolocracy – Saga Of A Fool

Once upon a time in United Fooland the kingdom of fools there was a group of young fools. It was called United Fools Party (UFP). The leader of this party was more learned than the rest. He had traveled to neighboring countries. His philosophy convinced other younger fools to join his movement. He always thought that the way everything was working was very foolish, the system was run by fools. King of the country had all the powers and he made the rules for each and everything. People were fool enough to get fooled and always believed that King can never be wrong. But the group was convinced that the king was fooling them by oppressing voices of the people. More than that the richer fools used to exploit poorer ones.

The leader of UFP believed that every citizen should have a say in how country needs to run. Every citizen will be treated equal against the law even if someone is foolest of the fools or brightest. Richer fools will be taxed for walefare of other fools. Finally there will not be a King, the eligible fool citizens will choose their leader. He coined a word for this philosophy “Foolocracy”, by the fools for the fools! The leader used newspapers and pamphlets to propagate his ideology. Fools of the country liked the ideology. Younger fools started participating in public gatherings of UFP. Almost everyone was convinced except elder fools and worker/laborer fools. Elders thought it was futile exercise. Worker fools were not convinced because UFP didn’t talk about financial equality. They wanted everyone to have same salary from Chief Executive Fool CEF to an ordinary worker. UFP didn’t agree with this idea. But UFP was gaining huge popularity among people.

Naturally the King got angry with this young group of fools. He announced that ideology of UFP is seditious and must be crushed. The King feared that the fool and citizens of his kingdom will start thinking and will no longer be good fools. He had support of the rich fools. As a first step he arrested almost all the members of UFP under law of sedition. As there were no courts none of his courtiers opposed him. The leader also got arrested. But he was so popular that, the news of his arrest spread like a wildfire. Fools took up weapons into their own hands. Riots began on each street of United Fooland. The fools were so much enraged that they started a march towards royal castle. The number of fools surrounding the castle was way higher than Royal Fooland Army. A war took place and many fools sacrificed their lives.

The popularity of the leader was at It’s peak. Finally the King surrendered. The rich fools had fled the country by this time. The leader was released. Contrary to people’s opinion the leader of UFP spared the life of the King and his family. Some members of UFP thought the King should be given death penalty for his deeds. But, leader thought that it will not be in the interest of the fools at large to get to violence. The King, in return signed a pact which basically said, the King shall remain the King but he will no longer have the authority to run the government. Even being the final authority the King will be bound to the decisions made by council which will comprise of people selected by the eligible fools of the country. The King had no choice but to sign this pact.

The leader of UFP announced in public that the country is now free. Every fool of this country will be equal. Religion and caste of the fools won’t matter. But it was not all fine with UFP. Some the fellow brighter fools started being jealous of the leadership’s popularity. The leader had already announced that he doesn’t want power. The jealous and power hungry group started conspiring. There was also one group which was unhappy with party’s ideology about religion. Workers were unhappy because rich business fools were spared by the UFP. The brighter fools who were hungry for power came together and went to the King and made him sign a paper. The leader was unaware of the incidences happening behind his back. He kept on meeting and teaching general fools.

As the leader was not interested in power he was also not interested in Politics. He thought politics will make people smarter and they will start answering each and every question. Till that time the United Fooland had only watched the King’s way of governance. But, the brighter jealous and power hungry ones started preaching about the new way of governance. The leader did not oppose it because the basis of governance was not changed. The brighter fools bribed fool workers leaders under a conspiracy. Leader sensed it but ignored as he did not have any proof. He was convinced UFP will not do anything foolish.

The leader kept meeting people and addressing them about his vision for the country. More he spoke to the crowd more the brighter group started feeling uncomfortable. It is also true that the brighter group of fools have started gathering some influential foolish people around them. So on one side there was mission and vision of the leader and on other side there was power and money of brighter group. Some in UFP thought the leader will be the biggest obstacle in obtaining the powers. Because, he will never allow fellow foolish members to acquire the power as they want it. On a fateful evening, brighter members of UFP met secretly along with workers leaders and some rich businessmen. They came with a plan, which till this date is a secret and a conspiracy. They went to King’s palace without anyone’s knowledge to get King’s agreement on their proposal. The King was very happy to agree.

The next morning, Royal Foolish Police started gathering at the leader’s residence. There were his followers waiting outside the residence for the meeting. Those foolish people were astonished to see the police.  When the leader came saw the police he immediately thought that something was not right. He tried to call his colleagues but, in vain as his phone connection was cut. Nobody was being allowed to enter leader’s residence. Finally the leader came out and asked the chief of police, what was happening? The police said, he was given orders to do so. The leader asked, about who gave the orders but he didn’t get any answer. He went back in his house and started wondering what was happening. Someone started the radio. To his astonishment the words started coming out the radio box as

“The new Country is born. The wise foolish leaders have chosen Mr. Foolton their President. Even though there is only one political party, the elections will be held next month. Congratulations to United Fooland and all the foolish citizens and welcome to new era of Foolocracy!”

The teacher went to the radio and switched it off. He fell down on knees. But, he was not crying, neither he showed any anger or sorrow. After a moment of silence, as per witness accounts he smiled to himself and went into his private room.

From that moment he stopped talking to anybody. Nobody from UFP called him. Later it was announced that the leader was no longer part of UFP. The elections were held and Mr. Foolton got elected Foolocratically by huge majority. Some important posts were given to workers leaders. Rich businessmen continued their businesses. The King died after couple of years and his successors flew out of the country never to come back. The foolish citizens are happy to see their opinion counts. Mr. Foolton became so influential that till date no one can be candidate for any post unless Mr. Foolton supports him/her. Sometimes people complain about several things like water, electricity, roads, education. But, government easily fools them every time. So in nutshell the United Fooland is now a modern nation following the principals of Foolocracy.

I recently visited The Leader. He has not spoken a word to anybody since that fateful day. The number of visitors have reduced drastically. Technically nobody visits him. He is helped by couple of his loyal followers. When I saw him he He looked very old and tired. Eyes looked dead, but still were crying without any tears. There were books lying around the table. He was sitting on a chair looking at nothing outside the window. I could hear the radio disturbance noise. I thought he was listening to some songs. After adjusted the frequency, to my surprise the All Fooland Radio was playing the Leader’s old speeches. Amazed by it I looked at the leader. He was smiling to himself..
