  1. Like Babhruvahana was born to Arjuna and Chitrangada, Ghatotkach was born to Bheema and Hidimbi. Hidimbi belongs to Dimasa Kachari clan of Assam-Nagaland. Dimapur (also Dimbapur) is the capital of Dimasa kings. There were references in Dimasa literature and Manipuri literature regarding the descendants of Ghatotkach and Babhruvahan. Please let me know if there is further information with you in this regard. The information provided in Roba’s World on mythology is very very useful.

  2. The Panchala Kingdom was founded by today’s Gill clan of Jats. One of the Panchala founders was MudGil, a subset of the Gill clan, along with SherGill. The first Gill was actually the progeny of Radha Krishna, he was their secret child born in the Forest. They were protecting him from Jarasandh, Krishna’s enemy. He was left in the forest and was found in a Pond splashing water. Sri Krishna’s devotees, an elderly couple, found him and named him “Gill”, which means to be wet, “geela” or “Gil,” since he was splashing in the water. It is probably the same Pond that Radha herself was born from. The Gill’s later founded the Panchala Kingdom and are known as Raja-Rishis, they were known to take up penance and meditation along with ruling and warrior activities, hence they were known as Ksatra-Brahmin, and are the only Jat clan to have dual title of Ksatra-Brahmin, Kshatriya by Varna/birth, Brahmin by Karma. Rishi Mudgil was a famous ancient Gill, and is the only Rishi to have a Purana named after him, called the Mudgil Puraan. Gills are considered to be intelligent, highly patient and tolerant kings who value both education and warrior dharma.
