Yesterday 7th September was the Birth Anniversary of a great Freedom Fighter Umaji Naik. While searching a bit on internet I found an interesting movie called “Umaji Naik” which was released on 4th June 1938.

Some interesting thoughts after going through these clippings from Bombay Chronicles

  • There are some interesting comments about the difference between Gandhi ji’s Non-Violent (निःशस्त्र) movement and Freedom fighter Umaji Naik’s Violent (सशस्त्र) movement (please read the advertisements above to understand what I mean?)
  • Producers are depicting, promoting a movie about a violent struggle against British occupiers in the time when India was still occupied by Britishers
  • British rulers allowed such movie to release even if it was totally against British rule. Something current “rulers” can learn a bit about Freedom of Expression!
